Check the logs (https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/207241085) for more details. What debug configuration type do you use? Can you share a screenshot with the settings?
How do you start the remote VM? What are the VM options to enable remote debug?
Can you debug it using the command line jdb using the same host/port?
