Hi.IDEA intentionally does not erase white space, if this may move the caret. I.e. if the caret is right after the white space, last in the line. Sudden caret jumps may make typing inconvenient.Ale...

Hi.1. Am I correct that you call New Module wizard and select maven-archetype-webapp to create the module from it? Then jsp content is provided by that Maven archetype, IDEA does nothing with that....

Hello.Can't reproduce this, sorry. As a blind guess, edit the web.xml as you wish and try main menu / File / Invalidate Caches with restart.Regards,Alexander.

Please check Settings / Inspections, make sure XML / XML tag empty body is enabled.NB: it works for literally empty body, e.g. a white space is not an empty string.Regards,Alexander.
