DirectoryProjectGenerator is available in all non-Java IDEs, while ModuleBuilder is in IntelliJ IDEA only

You need to register a custom extension id with "directoryProjectGenerator" and base class "com.intellij.platform.DirectoryProjectGenerator"

Extending C++ support is not currently possible via plugins, I'm afraid We plan to have it built-in in some future, though: CPP-866

Could you please check the latest CLion 2017.3 EAP build with reworked toolchains support? The problem should be fixed there.
