It doesn't work here even if I shutdown my outpost firewall and take the right port which is 5223 instead of 5222 for talk.google.com. Don't know why. Google Talk is not encrypted. Possibly IDETalk...

You can select all entries on one of the tabs, bring up the context menu and select "Mark as read". You don't need to press Space for each entry.
