Could you share a log from the sbt shell startup and the error?

The fastOptJs would be running in the sbt shell. Is it actually sbt consuming the memory or IntelliJ?

Did this happen in earlier verson of IntelliJ or Scala plugin? Does it help if you upgrade to IntelliJ 2018.3.4 and Scala plugin 2018.3.6?

This is currently a bug in the Scala plugin Nightly: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/SCL-14255 It should be fixed soon.

Shawty, which sbt version are you on now? Have you tried deleting all the target directories as described in https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/SCL-12430

The coverage execution is currently not supported, I've created an issue: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/SCL-14105 You may be able to add coverage support within the sbt configuration however.
