Community edition automatically changed to trial
I installed PHPStorm community edition recently. But it automatically changed to trial version on my PC.
Is community edition not free for always? If not, then why community edition, we can even use trial version.
If its free, then why it automatically get changed to trial?

1. There is no "community edition" of PhpStorm
2. What you call a "community edition" most likely is EAP builds.
EAP builds are indeed FREE to use as they come with own 30-day license .. which will last long enough until next EAP build will be published.
Thing is: they are free for major versions ONLY (e.g. when 2017.2 was still in development). Once major version is released any EAP build for minor version (e.g. 2017.2.2 like it's the case right now) requires proper license and will function in trial mode.
EAP builds will become free again for next major release -- 2017.3.

There are no EAP builds for major versions right now.
