podman slow and lots of java.io.IOExceptions

i've set up a new toolchain under the settings → build,execution,deployment → toolchains, which is a docker toolchain and connects to my podman socket instead of my docker socket.
Problem is, it is slow, and occassionally throws an java.io.IOException when trying to build, configure, run, debug.
Anyone who has the same experience?

Currently, out of the options listed in Connect to Docker daemon with, only the local one (first) is fully supported in CLion as a toolchain.
Feel free to comment or upvote CPP-27398 and CPP-33230. The later also contains some tips from other users.

The tickets above are about integration, I already have been able to integrate it, however, as mentioned, it is slow and occasionally throws errors
Since this option is not supported in CLion yet, we can't guarantee guarantee its correct operation.
