< and > keys don't work on spanish iso keyboard

Had to buy a new mbpro in Peru.. thekeyboard is spanish. I can type <> keys in any program except appcode.. if I press those keys (in fact it's one key, shift changes between the 2 symbols) appcode pops up a code completion window and status bar says "prefix key pressed".

can someone help?

copy and pasting <> symbols is NOT fun...
