Skipping scala files without a scala sdk

I'm getting the Skipping scala files without a scala sdk. 

I know you can add the sdk to the project modules, but the problem is the code doesn't build in intellij for some weird reason and I have to use gradle CLI. everytime i use that, it resets the modules list and i have to re-add them.
