IDEA 4.5 RC VIII
I have never seen more the 3 release candidates for a given application. Actually RCVII is pure term inflation in my view. How many RCs should we except before the product been released.
Intellij is already unique in many aspects but it shouldn’t be unique in all of them.

all of them.
Don't think of it as abbreviation anymore. RCVII looks cool, latin letters
and latin numbers. Not as cool as EVOVII, of course.

It really doesn't matter does it? It will be done when it's done.
Why do you complain? Better they release more release candidates than
releasing an unstable version.

Very true. But since we seem to have reached RCVII, then one could argue that we're not really at RC stage; more like late beta ...
Agreed. There are still things broken that used to work in pre-'RC' builds. RC implies release quality with minor niggles. Don't think it's quite there yet...

Well, offhand I can think of two (and only because I use ant a lot)

The memory consumption troubles seem to be another one.
Please note - I'm not implying that you guys don't work hard, and you do deliver a great product (and getting even better in the last few EAP builds). The point is that there are over 250 still open issues that were reported after RC1. I just think that the RC track was started WAY to early...
Hi,
If you want to descrease memory consumtion, you could make snapshot with
YourKit profiler with build 2219+ at the moment of high memory
consumption and make the snapshot available to us. Thank you in advance!

One thing that bothers me a little is that "Introduce Constant" and
"Introduce Field" insert below the usage (which doesn't compile).

Ill give this a go. One thing IDEA does do is use more and more memory as the day progresses, and along with this, navigating the menus slows down significantly over time (4 hours+). After 6-8 hours, the menu navigation speed become almost intolerable, and Im forced to shutdown and restart, at which point, IDEA goes back to its low 25Mb startup usage, and instant menu navigation speeds.
Then there is the issue of the lost focus. Extremely annoying - Im forced to click outside of IDEA and then back on an IDEA window again to get the cursor back.
After a lot of different operations, sometimes even the popped up dialogs dont have focus - very unusable when you are trying to use just the keys - but you have to reach for the mouse to put the focus back on the popup.

Agreed.
Hm. How about making 2219+ available?
Even a simple refactoring is broken.

Would love to, but YourKit is not available for the Mac. Do you have
