I can't see right margin validation markers?

As a new IntelliJ user and java developer, how can I enable this feature?  It is one of my favorites in .net ReSharper.

I can see the right margin markers when I do a search, but for code-level warnings and errors, they are invisible.

I don't quite understand what you mean. By default, right gutter markers
work in IntelliJ in the same way as in R#.

Could you please attach a screenshot?

Thanks for your reply.  From the screenshot that follows, could my issue be that the background and foreground colors are the same?
