What would you think about EAP builds, that are approx. 40% smaller than the current ones? This is possible with 7zip. This could be a good choice for users who have no flatrate.
I'm following the development of 7-zip and will probably try it soon. One problem I have with 7-zip is that it is still beta. This somehow restrains me from packing vital data such as backups. So most likely I will wait until it's out of beta. RAR on the other hand is stable and I never had any problems with it. It's around for more than 10 years now. It's compression ratio may not be as good as 7-zip but it's much better than zip. But since I am lucky to have a DSL flatrate here, I have no preference here as long as I stay able to unpack the EAP builds.

As long as they provide standard Zip files as well. I don't want to have to install yet another compression tool.

you must not install another compression tool. 7zip can make a exe-file, too!!!
