[EVALUATION] - E07 - JetBrains, CEO, Team
I've detected the major problems of the IntelliJ IDEA.
The company seems to be a small one, CEO centered - and I doubt that
they can keep up with development, especially as they do not use in any
way open-source contribution mechanics (e.g. for lower-grade subsystems).
The reaction on a job application (cooperation as an independent) which
i've placed over 2 weeks ago (I'm aware about holidays) remained
unprocessed - which is a very ungentle behaviour.
[job application and some examples mailed to job@jetbrains, CEO, and
Rob.Harwood, thus my suggestions get "employee-level visibility"]
The CEO of jetBraims seems to be a core-developer. This cannot work, as
the CEO needs to have a clear brain (without any coding activity traps)
to plan, overview and direct the company.
At this point, the CEO should have already reacted to my messages and to
the content of this thread, possibly with a suggestion like "free my
mind thus I can focus on development".
-
The response within JetBrains on feedback is minimal or zero, which
indicates a low evolution speed.
-
-
-
I'm not sure if I'll start development with IDEA or if I move on to the
last remaining IDE:
the borland one (don't even know the name).
I'm preconceived, due to worse experiences with C++ Builder. OOAD was
not engouraged by this tool.
-
Will see.

Ahahaha!
Apologies to everyone for not jumping in on this (I usually just monitor the EAP forums), but my oh my, where does one start!
Ilias, I have some tips for you that you should try to incorporate into your master plan. The first and foremost of which to use correct English. Now, I know it isn't your first language and all, but you know what? It's not mine either. However, it's still fairly easy not to mix up your with you're, and not to spell program and programm. Writing broken English is a lot more likely to reveal that you're a brain damaged turd than if you were to be more coherent, and your trolling would rise to the next level.
Secondly, why don't you just bugger off and use JBuilder? How much clearer should it be to you that your presence here is not wanted, needed, or appreciated? I'm sure if jetbrains (or eclipse, or any other entity) needed help running their core business, you'd be last on the list based on your ideas and opinions which have more in common with a crack addled whore's notions of how to run a business than anyone passing third grade.
Did it ever occur to you that any sane company would go out of its way to avoid responding to you, given that you're so clearly the result of an inbreeding generic experiment gone horribly wrong?
Even worse for you, reality seems to be against you too, and regularly spits in your face by making these companies successful, well run, and well appreciated by the 'community'.
On the bright side, your animal cunning does help explain away every reality based fact by insisting that 'eventually' you'll be proven right. Sadly though, with people like you, evolution does not exist, only eternal hope and faith in the power of tomorrow. You're probably surprised day by day at the sun rising, but hold out in hope that your 'there is no sun' theory will finally bear fruit out day, it's just a matter of time eh?
If you have children, please smother them, you'd be doing them and us a huge favour. If you have parents, neuter them, that genetic line is a dead end anyway.

Hani,
I am like most here and want nothing more than for Ilias to go away. But
what sort of human being says such sick and offensive things like "If you
have children, please smother them", to another human being? I normally find
your posts extremely entertaining and often have great respect for what you
have to say. In fact the larger proportion of your tirades are not only
valid but effective in turning the tide of popular opinion towards what you
believe in.
The content of this most recent diatribe, on the other hand, was completely
unjustified and in truth lacked the level of maturity associated with
someone older than the age of ten? When cries went out for you to interject
on this thread and put a stop to the obscure rants of our good friend Ilias,
I had high hopes for an intelligent, yet scathing response that would
hopefully send him scurrying back to the darkened troll cave from whence he
came. But I have to say I was disappointed and saddened by the degree to
which you lowered yourself in order to get a cheap laugh? It was out of
character (from the little bit I know about your character through reading
these forums and your bile blog) and I would have expected better from an
adult?
Please stop to think before spilling such pointless and offensive crud onto
the forum in future? It makes us all look very small...

Did we really need yet another post from someone that doesn't get out much? (Yes, I see the irony).
"Yes, I see the irony"
hmmmm....
FWIW (not much, since I'm new), I'm with Scott. Ilias is annoying as hell, but that post was totally uncalled for and in bad taste. I haven't been around long enough to read more of Hani's posts - as the first one that I've read, it makes him look like a child.
Let's face it, we don't need to bring Ilias' family into it, he provides plenty of material on his own.

Main Page\
unserious impression, to much graphic
I don't see an serious IDE vendor
=> Focus on IDE
=> get layout & design impressions from 'big-looking' companies.
basic layout and organisation confusing
=> provide your main menue
=> provide standard navigation
http://www.jetbrains.com/products.html
top menue which appears here should be on main-page , too
Top section (white) should be inserted ind "jetBrains" section (blue)
http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/
too much header (body starts too low)
"IntelliJ" is overloaded.
holiday-special becomes annoying
information overload
=> structure information
if navigation-speed is critical
=> provide active menues (standard-left-placed)
-
Cannot extract what "IntelliJ" is.
Cannot extract what "A" in "IDEA" means.
Product naming switches between "IntelliJ IDEA" and "IDEA".
http://www.jetbrains.com/company/people/executives.html
If I remember right, together-Soft was sold for $200 Million to Borland,
which shows that the 3 executives came from an impressive company.
Should be stated somehow.
-
I've overflown a LOP document, which sounds intresting.
I was confused that the CEO says thank you to an employee for doing his job.
-
Suggestions:
Redesign Website
slightly modified design & layout
modularisation
reduced information
Evaluate/Correct Product-Definitions & Orientations (especially for
Fabrique and the LOP)
possibilities of Open-Source
Practical Definitions
this is especially true for "Fabrique" / "LOP", where my correcting
intervention can save you many efforts and costs.
I will rewrite the basic requirements expressed here:
- JAVA + NetBeans + ??? = easy & scalable production!
http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=848269&listName=nbusers
and can apply the directly to your products.
-
I can operate budget oriented.
You can say:
Ok, we release budget of X$ for the website redesign
suggestions/examples and a budget of X$ for the product-definition (I
make product evaluations/definitions mostly whilst analysing/writing
website content)

I assume you mean main page of www.jetbrains.com
I like the style. "serious" usually means "boring". Their
site has one problem: it is not liquid. The good thing that
it is XHTML/CSS with no tables or frames, has variable
character size, uses CSS media attribute (try print
preview). Overall, I would say, very nice looking, well
implemented site along with current trends.

I'm sorry but I wouldn't give you a job based upon that application, in fact because of all the links in it my spam defender would probably have blocked it before it even hit my inbox.
If you were intent on putting in an application it should have taken this format:
1 > Brief covering letter (2-3 paras) saying what you would like to do and why you think you can make it worthwhile.
2 > Attach a copy of your CV where you can include these links under evidence of previous work if you wanted to.
JetBrains probably get hundreds of applications since they are one of the most respected medium-sized technology companies in the industry. Your "application" was not properly structured and as such probably got lost in the crowd.

Remember, he's providing a valuable service - as an 'opinion inverter'.
If he likes something, be suspicious and investigate further before implementing or using.
If he dislikes something, put it at the top of your list to evaluate. It's likely to be quite useful.
