Irida split-window functionality
First off, is this the right newsgroup EAP newsgroup for general Irida
questions/comments?
I like the new split-window functionality in 3084/3089, it's a huge
improvement over the previous approach. However a couple of things I
have noticed:
- Why were CTRL-2 and CTRL-3 chosen as the default keybindings for
splitting vertically and horizontally? They clash with the bookmark
functionality. I can still set bookmarks with CTRL-SHIFT-2 and
CTRL-SHIFT-3, I just can't get to them with CTRL-2 and CTRL-3 anymore! A
similiar problem exists for CTRL-1.
- I would like to see a way to 'unsplit' a single split window. I've
noticed that CTRL-1 is close to what I'm after, however it removes all
split windows rather than just the current split level. As an example,
suppose I have the following:
______
1 |
2 |
___ |
|
3 |
|
__ |
___ |
Currently, when I press CTRL-1 I end up with the following, regardless
of which editor pane I'm in:
______
1 |
______ |
What I'd like to see is that if I was in panel #3 for example, CTRL-1
would give me the following instead:
______
1 |
3 |
__ |
___ |
Make sense?

I like. But, this should probably go in the eap n/g.
Another thing... why are all the window-splitting actions on the "File" menu instead of the "Window" menu?
That's just dumb.
