Need help with WPF automation
Hi, this is my first post.
I'm a bit new to Ruby. I've used it a while ago for some web automation but right now I need to find a tool to use WPF. Downloaded RubyMine which seems like a great tool!
Issue I ran into: I can't get any WPF-friendly plug-ins to work with RubyMine. I tried white and wipflash but can't get either to work. So here are the quesitons:
1. do I need gems for something like this?
2. do I need Ruby Rails for this?
3. how do I get paths to work properly? My current load paths are:
C:/Program Files (x86)/IronRuby 1.1/Lib/ironruby
C:/Program Files (x86)/IronRuby 1.1/Lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1
C:/Program Files (x86)/IronRuby 1.1/Lib/ruby/1.9.1
White is located in C:/Program Files (x86)/IronRuby 1.1/Lib/ruby/White_Bin_021. I tried several ways which I found on the web but it just won't load the files.
Apologies for n00b-type questions and thanks in advance!

RubyMine does not provide any code insight for .NET assemblies used through IronRuby, such as WPF. If you're OK with writing the automation code in Python rather than Ruby, PyCharm does provide support for .NET assemblies.
Thanks for replying. I've read in several places that it's possible to use Ruby for WPF testing. Is there no way to get Rubymine to work with WPF at all?
Depends on what you mean by "work with WPF". You can probably get it to run, but you won't get any benefits of using RubyMine - the code completion will not work.
Any other editors/IDEs that would be useful here or should I just give up on Ruby for such a project altogether?
I'm trying to test your average WPF app. Bunch of buttons on a GUI in several windows, nothing too fancy.
I'm not aware of any other editor or IDE that supports code compeltion for .NET types used in Ruby code.
Ok, autocompletion aside, I presume it would still be possible to get such automation to work using Rubymine?
