Install and use new fonts

I am using RubyMine 3.2.4 on Ubuntu 11.10. I install the Icosolata font as follows:

sudo apt-get install ttf-inconsolata

Then I try to use that font for the editor, but it's not in the available font list. What should I do to make new fonts available to RubyMine?
