I just installed rubymine on my netbook, but it's only visible while in fullscreen mode. Without fullscreen it just displays a blank window (although if you know where they are you can use the menus).

I've had a similar issue with 9.04 Ubuntu Netbook Remix. It was an issue between Java and active window manager. It got resolved in 9.10. My point is that it may be not an RM specific issue, but a Java Swing glitch. Like that one.

I'm using Arch Linux and my primary WM is awesome, although I've tested it with gnome and openbox on the same machine with no better results.
