Unable to run contextual unit tests via new gutter icon or hotkey

In the past couple EAP releases, I've been unable to use the new "run test method" gutter icons nor the old way of running tests via a hotkey "ctrl-shift-R" on OS X.  My project uses Groovy 2.4.4 and the tests are standard JUnit 4 tests.  When attempting to run I get an IDE exception of "Configuration test type not specifiedCLASS" from the JUnit plugin.  Is anyone else having this issue?
