Sometimes I'll open a project and be unable to "enter" or "delete"

Mac OS. Really odd, sometime I'll open a project and be unable to hit enter to create a new line or be able to delete to backspace. When I restart IDEA it's typicaly fine.
I can't pinpoint a cause or a specific project. Anyone else ever notice this? (leda 128.101 but noticed it earlier versions as well.)
