Let me get it straight - based on the web site offer, those with a V5 license are entitled to free upgrade to V6 and a free license to TeamCity V1, so I do not need to do anything to have V6 work when it comes out?
I think the offer is for those that buy IntelliJ 5.1 NOW. This is normal industry practice prior to the release of a new version of a product because without this incentive new licensees are likely to stall until the actual final release is out.
I have not yet completely moved over to the 6.0 EA builds because of performance and exception issues (which is to be expected with an EA) so I still think we have at least 1-2 months to go before the release date.

It's the same as usual: your license key will be valid for V6 if you buy it from now on, but if you already have a license key for V5 you purchased earlier, you'll need to pay the regular upgrade price.

I have a personal license for IDEA 5.0 (bought in December 2005). How much will upgrading to IDEA 6 cost (is it $149 as in http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/upgrade/how_to_upgrade.html?) and will IDEA 6 come bundled with TeamCity for the same price?

Yes, the upgrade will cost $149. As for whether it will include TeamCity - I don't have this information right now.

OK, then. Presuming one has upgraded to 5.x from a 4.x version, one could buy the upgrade to 5.x again, during this period, in order to end up with both a new IDEA license AND a TeamCity lincence... It's just the customers that bought a new license for 5.x before now that are toasted. :)
In all fairness, an equivalent deal for 5.x license holders would be to buy the upgrade now and get the bundled TeamCity (or run this bonus offer for a limited time after release).
Anyway, do you have any estimates for how much TeamCity would cost on its own? I haven't managed to spot this info on the site.

My understanding is that there will be such a deal. But again, I don't have complete information on the TeamCity licensing.
Hello Roland,
RK> What are the conditions if we buy Idea 5 now to get Idea 6? When do
RK> you plan to release Idea 6?
You should be able to see the answer on our Web site by tomorrow, or even
earlier. :)
