Love the little inspector dude in status bar

Nice feature implementation. I like the fact that I can set where I
want the inspections to be and turn them on at will. Easy to access.
You should put more stuff like this in the status bar.

Nice work.

Yes, very nice, indeed.
A little issue though: I had the Thumbnails view open, clicked on the
status bar inspector icon and the configuration popup appeared.
I had problems getting rid of the popup again:
It does not close when I click somewhere else in the status bar or in the
Thumbnails tool window.
Had to click in the editor to make it go away.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS FUNCTIONALITY!!! I've been thinking of having a t-shirt made with the little inspector dude, and this clinches it.

Make sure you have his face on the front and the back of his head on the
back (set highlighting level to None or Syntax). ;)

OK, I can't resist this... too much slashdot reading, but... In Soviet Russia, IDEA inspects YOU!

The icon is too small to show the inspector sleeping in his bed
(inspect: None).
Too bad

Really nice! Now please give us a way of defining a "default inspection
level" per file type (on a global level would be fine with me; others
might prefer project level).

Regards,
Jens

P.S. Where can I sign up for a t-shirt?

If I recall correctly we took Hercule Poirot for inspector prototype.

Inspector dude is ok I guess, but to really give it that 'cool' factor, what if it could be made to look like maybe a paperclip? but with a face on it? and have it be bigger and jump around the screen? and instead of waiting for you to click it, it would just popup on its own and ask if you need help, like whenever it feels like it?

now THAT would be awesome...

Really interesting. That's one of my favourites TV series.

What about playing the theme of Poirot, while the inspector is inspecting?
Just joking.

Although if you look at the pic, inspector Poirot is pointing a finger
that he found something... I wonder... nahh... too gimmicky and
distracting.

There was an Hercule Poirot TV series? Heh, I used to read Agatha Christie books one after the other in high school :)

Exactly. (I don't have a moustache though).
And young Belgians all look like that: http://tinyurl.com/bnwnr

What does he actually do...?!!

For me, he's just... there... Clicking gives me a little pop-up window with options for error highlighting and import pop-up, but that's it.

There seems a lot of interest in this feature, but I can't see why. What am I missing?

It let's you tune the inspections are executed on the current editor.
=> If you are working on a huuuuge class where inspections are too slow,
or an xml file that's pure red, you can disable some/all the inspection
just for that file.

And in the next version you'll be able to change inspection profiles on
the fly from Hector, so it will become a real convenience tool to
inspect different things as you work and refactor.
