Status bar disappears in 9.0.3 and EAP builds for 9.0.4 and 10

Does anyone know the cause for this? Is it a setting? My status bar has disappeared on two different occasions now (several months apart). The only way I have found to fix it is to re-install IDEA without importing settings. This happens on Windows XP with 9.0.3. It is still gone when I install latest EAP builds for 9.0.4 and 10 (Unless I do NOT import settings). See attached photos.

I have no idea why the status bar disappears, but it can certainly be shown
without reinstalling, using the View | Status Bar menu item.
