Not exactly about IntellIJ but...

Hmm that's not something I've noticed before. I use Omea Reader to browse
and post via NNTP and the posts on the website still appear to be linked
to my account. I don't have any authentication set up on the NNTP connection
so maybe it links it by the email address?

You can access these forums by NNTP by connecting to
news.jetbrains.com. Is there also a way to make posts that you post
via NNTP appear under your own username in these forums? Currently
they just appear as "guest".

Hmm, i just tested it, and it's exactly that way. Which is mighty
convenient however someone can easily impersonate me then by just
posting with my email address as sender. I am not sure if I like that...

I think you need to have the e-mail used in your NNTP posts match the e-mail
specified in your forums profile.
