I am using Idea 8.1 and it generated 2200+ thread dumps yesterday in about 7 hours of use. Is this normal? Should I file a bug?
Thread dumps are generated when the IDEA dispatch thread is not responsive for more than 5 seconds. The thread dump generation by itself is a feature rather than a bug, but IDEA is definitely not supposed to have so many periods of unresponsiveness. You can file a bug and attach the dumps so that we can see where the performance problems are.
