"Find" with history ("<=" and "=>")

when you do a find you can specify 'open in new tab' in the find usages
dialog

OR

after you've got find results that you want to keep, rt-click on the tab
and lock it.

On the second thought - it's still not that convenient to lock the result toolbar as I have to remember to lock it (which doesn't usually happen). In a usual scenario I'm looking for something, browsing a little, looking for something new and whoops, I forgot to lock the toolbar ! Already happened a couple of times to me.

I think some easily accessible "Find history" could solve this inconvenience problem. There's no need to keep the results (which may become unrelevant already) but the search cretarias. So that I'll be able to re-run my previous searches by, say, choosing them from some drop-down box. Just like in the screenshot attached

No :) I was talking about "Find Usages" history, not the usual "Find" dialog

Hmm .. As I'm thinking of it - the original subject is really unclear.

Anyway, does anybody think this subject worths opening a feature request ? Having a "Find Usages" history seems cute to me ..

Maybe a whole history is overkill, but a way to 'Repeat Last Find Usages' would be nice. Sort of like the 'rerun' button that's there already, but still accessible once the tool window has closed.

That's the real issue here, right? That you can't access the 'rerun' button if you've forgotten to lock the tool window?

Why do you think it's an overkill ? I'm suggesting not to keep the whole results but only a search criterias, like "Field X of class Y", "Method A of class B" and the like. Their list could be displayed in a drop-down box so that I can easily choose any of them to re-run.

Currently - yes, I can't re-run the previous "Find Usages" if I didn't lock the toolbar and laucnhed a new one. Because it's completely overwritten by new results.
