Usage of tracker
Hi,
can somebody please tell me how to use the tracker? No matter what I do to
search for requests I always get zero results.
E.g. I want to search for all requests that have NPE either in the title or
the description.
- click on search
- select based on
- select <contains>
- enter NPE
- click on search
My filter all is the unmodified all:
<no field>]]></no></contains>
equals and global filter
I get zero results on Konquerer for KDE 3.0.4 with cookies enabled. I am
sure that there is at least one request out there that should match this
criteria.
Best regards,
Dirk Dittert

I just did exactly the same thing (using Mozilla) and got 511 results.
Try the following query and see what you get:
http://www.intellij.net/tracker/idea/searchSCR?ok=search&search=Search&Field0=titledescription&Operation0=CONTAINS&Value0=NPE

I just went through the procedure you described in your original post and
got 511 results. Do you have JavaScript enabled in your browser? When I
change the "Based on" field, the fields underneath are "reset" (by what I
presume is a JavaScript action).

You do not use IE ;)
The tracker makes extensive use of IE-only features, so even my Opera
6.05 (on Windows) has major problems with the tracker.

Thomas,
what problems do you have? I have searched ITN tracker, and have found 3
reqests filed by you, of which only one (#230) is related to Opera,
and marked as "Fixed".
I use Opera 6.1 on Linux, and I do not experience any major
problems (at least not in the externally visible part of tracker:) ).
Please file SCRs if you have any...
Friendly,
Dmitry

yes, JavaScript is enabled. Shall I file a request for "everybody finds 511
requests but I don't"?

Dmitry,
I remember major problems, when I tried to search anything. Since I
couldn't search, I didn't used Opera any longer with ITN and switched
to IE. If the problems are fixed in the mean-time, I apologize hereby.

Since searching in the tracker was/is? broken (mixed and/or handling didn't
work as it should) and as it's very over-complicated I never use it.
I always use the forum search page:
http://www.intellij.net/forums/search.jsp
The same here, as I stopped using tracker search after the first few tries
:)

Dear Dmitry,
I just tried Mozilla (1.2.1). As soon as I click on browse in the tracker I
can see the HTML source code but not the rendered page.
I would consider this a major problem (but am not sure if this is a Mozilla
or a tracker problem).
Best regards,

Just checked using konqueror: It also shows the page source code. I am sorry

Sounds more like an issue of the MIME type being reported wrong by the
webserver...
Yes, it was apparently broken last night, because I use Mozilla all the time and yesterday everything was working fine. I have already filed a bug in ITN Tracker (I had to launch MSIE to do that :).
Tracker should work with IE and Mozilla browsers with enabled JavaScript.
There was temporary problem last day with incorrect MIME type of pages that is fixed now.
Unfortunately search/filter definition page dosn't work with Opera now.
Opera JS dosn't implement some critical event attributes ( i.e. for option ) . This is true also for 7.0b1.
Second requirement is DOM manipulation.
We are working on version that will work with Opera and Konqueror.
We agree that the Tracker should be polite and say that this page dosn't work with your browser.

Correction:
Tracker including search/filter definition page should work with Opera 6.x ( just 7.0b1 is broken )
