right scroll bar has weird graphic lines
If you look on the right side where the scroll bar is, there is a bunch of yellow lines. any idea why this is happening? I'm still new to pycharm, i was using notepad++ for the past few months and trying to transition over.

Please check https://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/PYH/Syntax+highlighting+and+error+indication . The right gutter has stripes for errors/warnings/changes according to your configuration. It's possible to disable certain errors/warnings if they are not useful for you.
