How to hide/turn-off the "exception indicator"

What is this called ?

These are scrollbar stripes (see scrollbar).

How to hide or run it off ?

You can set Error stripe mark min height to 0 in Settings > Editor > Code Editing or uncheck Error Stripe Mark checkboxes in Settings > Editor > Color Scheme > General (Errors and Warnings, Search Results).

No, unfortunately, it’s not possible to disable it for a specific project. You can adjust the theme-specific Error Stripe Mark setting, but since themes are not project-specific either, you would still need to switch themes.
