AI Pro vs AI Ultimate Subscriptions - Confused - I paid for pro, now it's free in the All Products pack - which I also have

I have a subscription to the All Products Pack.  I also purchased AI pro.  With the new 2025.1, there's a new AI plugin (Junie and AI Assistant are bundled) which introduces new licensing models.

The pricing models that I care about look like this (See https://www.jetbrains.com/ai-ides/buy/?section=personal&billing=yearly): 


  AI Pro - now free with the All Products Pack

  AI Ultimate - $200 per year.

So, at the moment, it looks like I paid for an All Products Pack subscription, plus threw away $100 for the AI Pro, unless I choose to "Switch to JetBrains AI Ultimate" - which shows up in my license for AI Pro.  I'm really not sure what that will do - perhaps give me credit for the $100 towards the purchase of AI Ultimate?

This seems really odd.  It would be great to post here so that everyone can have a better understanding, but please contact me directly for resolution of my problem.

This is really confusing and there is no information about it anywhere! I also have the “All Products” pack and the “AI Pro" subscriptions (monthly paid) and asked myself exactly the same question! Should I now cancel the “AI Pro” subscriptions? And what exactly is the advantage for me, who already has (or had) “AI Pro” Subscriptions, over the “AI Ultimate” Subscriptions? I haven't found any difference on any of the charts I've found (spread across various websites). Can 'Sales' help me with this?

My "All Products Pack" subscription will expire in July 2025, and the "AI Pro" subscription will expire in March 2026. So, after renewing the "All Products Pack" subscription in July 2025, should I cancel the "AI Pro" subscription? Because "AI Pro" is already included in "All Products Pack".

My current "All Products Pack" subscription does not include "AI Pro". Does this mean that I have lost the subscription to "AI Pro" for a certain period of time due to the annual subscription and have to pay again to obtain "AI Pro"?

It's confusing for me too…

I have an all products pack. From the UI (here IntelliJ Ultimate) it seems like I have the pro version, but the quota-bar confuses me… I thought, with a (indirectly via all products pack) paid AI Pro Sub I can use the AI as much as I need - like a flatrate. If I start using this AI and run out of “quota” on day 1 it is not a reliable benefit for me and I am scared to start using it. Where is the transperency behind that bar? Is this a “buy a larger pack then”-selling-thing?

I agree, I found this exact topic when I was doing the research - we are paying AI Pro subscription but almost all our developers have All product pack. What happens with the subscription ? Should we simply cancel it? The communication and constant changes of AI plugins are unfortunate (at least).

I totally agree. What is going on. I get a message that I need to pay attention for the renewal for the complete package (I have seen that message every year). I decided to downgrade to Jetbrains + AI pro and I have no idea what has happened. This is really annoying. Looks like somebody did not think this through. Be transparant, make clear how this exactly works. I downloaded IntelliJ and expected to see AI Pro, for which I see to have a license.. or not. I don't see it in my current IntelliJ version. How does this work. What can I expect. Is there more to it then paying 100 euro. I really don't get it. Can I cancel everything?

I wish I had seen this thread days ago!  Thanks to everyone on it. Would have saved me so much time. Alan says it all. And to add insult to injury it shows that I am unlicensed to use ai for my $100 / year in the plugins page which wasted a few more hours trying reinstalls. It is documented that this is an issue btw BUT FIX IT JETBRAINS!!

What I need is clarity about what I have paid for and what I will now get. I totally depend on ai to help with teaching. I cant believe I am saying this but vscode for python is now starting to look viable. I too cancelled by renewals here. Step up jetbrains and provide a clear position that recognizes loyal customers to date and shows you are commited to avoiding this sort of debacle going forward.

I buy AI Pro and now it says i am out of quota and i have 27 days left, what happen now - its over? If yes, i go back to github agent :)

Please switch to GitHub Copilot as soon as possible, as it can only be used to generate a document and can be used interchangeably. The real-time prompt is too laggy, hard to use, and slow.

Same it, the new AI prod & ultimate licensing model is confusing. I have the jetbrain all product pack subscription which now included the Jetbrain AI and I have a soon to expire Jetbrain subscription separately.  Should I just cancel the Jetbrain AI subscription?

I've just ran into something interesting: my previously purchased AI Pro license went out of quota (I used intensively the Claude Sonnet 3.7 model), so it blocked the AI features and suggested to switch to AI Ultimate. But instead of doing that I switched my AI license (search for “manage license” in the IDE) to the one included in my All Product Pack and now I've got its quota :)

So my point is: don't worry about having paid more if you do use AI features, it's like “extra credits" :)

Yeah, this pricing structure rollout has been terrible! There no information about how it works on the website, and its so confusing. . .

When the AI assistant was added to the All Products Pack a few months ago(which I have, but didnt know about as I got no communications about the change) I paid extra for multiple months of AI pro in addition to whats included in the APP.   What this does, though there NO explanation anywhere about this that I can see, is it adds two separate licences to your account with separate quotas, which you need to swap between in the Manage Licences menu in AI Assistant sub-sub-menu (this option is NOT found in the main AI menu at the top where you'd expect it.)  

Because the “quota bar” is next to useless and doesn't tell you anything about how many or what type of tokens you have used, theres no indication of separate licenses/quotas so not realizing this, I carefully managed my AI usage to avoid running out of quota for the month (ie. cant really use Junie at all!). Of course this meant that I was leaving the ENTIRE AI Pro quota which I paid extra for completely untouched.

Reaching out to support was useful in that they explained all this to me, since this information is seemingly NOWHERE (they blamed me for turning off Promotional emails - this is not a promotion, your changing my service without telling me!). But they refused to refund me for any of the completely unused monthly quotas that I had been paying extra for.  Its not a ton of $$ but its pretty irritating, and bad business IMO.

I'm currently giving the Ultimate quota a try, since that's the only way to get enough to really try out Junie at all, but its still disappearing quick (Ive used a full All Products Pack quota bar, PLUS > 50% ultimate quota bar in 2 days of moderately heavy vibe coding - its been doing a pretty ok job though - probably about half those tokens were spent fixing its own mistakes though . . .)

Overall, I think I'll finally be giving up on the JetBrains ecosystem, at least for a while.  I've had a much better experience with Cursor overall, and even if Junie improves/gets less token hungry, this whole AI Assistant rollout has been so poorly executed and left a bad taste in my mouth.  Ive cancelled my APP renewal, and after this trial of AI Ultimate, I'll most likely have to give up on all the IDE features I love (and muscle memory!) and move fully to Cursor.    So ends an era … too bad, they really should have thought this stuff through before pissing off loyal customers!

This IS insane, WTH??  So what do I do with my AI Pro?  Doesn't even tell me what AI Ultimate features are nor cost?

I contacted the “Sales team” and ZERO response.

I can't even find what the cost is for AI Ultimate Upgrade, just says the will charge me a prorate??

To make matters worse, there is ZERO information about the feature set differences between AI Pro and AI Ultimate?  This just smells and feels like a money grab with NO actual end user benefit?

AI Ultimate is just an additional AI quota - no other differences. You can buy many licenses and switch between them when the quota of one is exhausted. 

AI Free - quota S (~1x)

AI Pro - quota  M (~10x)

AI Ultimate - quota  L (~40x)

AI Enterprise - quota  L (~40x)

This is a tricky situation with the new AI subscriptions! It's confusing when you've already paid for something that then becomes part of a bundle you already own. I hope you can sort out the licensing for AI Pro and the new AI plugin.

I have dotUltimate which comes with some AI, and have had to add AI Pro as I kept running out of credits.

It was annoying (or at least counter-intuitive) that I have to explicitly switch from one subscription to another when the dotUltimate credits ran out - I expected the credit to be lumped together.

I understand that the technologies (models) are changing all the time as are the costs to JetBrains but a little clarity would be good as to the relative token consumption/power in different contexts of the different models.

I have found Gemini 3 Flash pretty good and it doesn't run down the tokens too fast. But how much more do I get for AI Ultimate vs AI Pro?

Thanks - continue to be surprised and pleased at Rider over VS, I'm sure you can nail this (you already have in a sense given that github stuff it all blocked by my work but your services aren't)
