Upgrading to 2025.1 on Windows without destroying everything

已回答

I now needed to download instead of patch install the new version of Datagrip.

The problem is, I am terrified to upgrade as I seemingly lose the old version and I don't want that.

How can I upgrade the version without losing everything? The only options seems to be uninstalling the old.

I must say, if this fails, I will cancel my longstanding IntelliJ subscription and just migrate to Cursor/Windsurf/Firebase Studio despite the fact that I dislike VSCode.

Why is this still a necessity in 2025?

Hi,

You can use the JetBrains Toolbox App to easily install and maintain multiple versions side by side, manage updates, and more.

Let me know if it works for you.

Hi Anastasia,

But I don't want multiple versions. I want one single Datagrip installation on my computer, but I do not want to lose all settings, etc. that I have in my current version. Why does the Patch process work sometimes and when it doesnt, I need to be afraid I lose everything?

Jonas,

Are you experiencing a behavior similar to what’s described in DBE-23232 when trying to upgrade DataGrip, or was it a different issue that occurred previously?

Hi Anastasia,

yes, this is what I have experienced and I was terrified. It's good to know that this was not the intended behavior.

Thank you for the help and raising awareness.

Regards,
Jonas
