Reusing one Django project as boilerplate for a new one
I have one project that I created as a Boilerplate (all the registration authentication stuff). Naturally I want to absorb that into my new one and so on for all the projects I create because I can't be repeating all that code. I find no way to do that in Pycharm. I am using the paid version (no trial) of Pycharm. It is not about clicking on Open, because what that does, is simply open the project. If I create one from scratch, how can I incorporate the BoilerPlate?

Hi there
Thank you for reaching out,
Unfortunately PyCharm does not have a feature to do exactly what you have described.
While this has been raised long ago as a feature request it has not been implemented so far.
https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/PY-5752/Create-Django-project-from-custom-template
We do have the file template feature however this applies more to single files so I do not think it suits your request exactly.

Do you think instead using VCS such as github could be an interesting option so you could start new projects cloning the boilerplate?
Kind regards,
I have inquired this in the AI assistant but, perplexed as I am, it turns out I have to copy and paste by hand all files and directories!! wtf! so is that the smart way to do it? god help me if I have to do that for all the large projects I want to use as boilerplate for the upcoming projects!
