Left Project panel collapses when clicking on the editor.

Project panel started collapsing when I re-focus editor. This area:
This has started happening like a month ago. Other panels like Maven and Structure do no collapse.
Can I make it stop closing the Project panel when I go back to editor?

Please check Options | View Mode in the Project Structure if the Dock Pinned option is selected. That should keep the Project Structure fixed.
On a side note, you mentioned you noticed this started to happen about a month ago. May I ask which IDE version you are using? You can check that in IntelliJ IDEA | About (for MacOS) or Help | About (for Windows).
