App Toolbox says 'The installation path is not writable. Check the tool setting for details'

I installed the Toolbox app and I am unable to upgrade Datagrip because of the shown  message. I made the folder writable in file explorer and it seems Windows puts back as readonly. I am not sure if this is the real problem since all the folders under C:\Program Files\JetBrains are readonly and they probably have always been like this. Plus I am able to upgrade from withink the apps before.

Now once I installed the Toolbox, the upgrade option in Datagrip tells me to use the Toolbox. Because Toolbox is not installing it, I uninstallled the Toolbox because it's a blocker and too problematic.

Also the Toolbox showed that there's a Datagrid 2025 2.3 I can upgrade too, however checking for upgrades from inside Datagrid (after uninstalling the Toolbox) said nothing about 2.3 and that there's an EAP unavailable, which I upgraded to.

This whole experience of using the Toolbox is just a mess and problematic. So I uninstalled it. Plus there's not much value from it for me. I can just upgrade from within the IDEs.

Hello, appreciate sharing your feedback! I think installing the IDE in the user's directory would solve this update issue. You can specify the installation path for all IDEs in Settings (Ctrl+Comma) | Tools | Tools installation location
