Pop-Up - Upgrading to PyCharm-2025.2.4

Still learning the ropes with PyCharm and Python—just a heads-up!

Question: During a PyCharm update, is it expected to encounter installation files from applications that don't have PyCharm or Python in the name?

Context: Anyone have a weird popup when upgrading from the community version to PyCharm 2025.2.4? I didn’t capture a screenshot, but the window didn’t mention PyCharm or Python by name. I backed out and restarted the update process twice, but the same install window appeared each time. Against my better judgment, I went ahead and installed the app—but it didn’t update my version to 2025.2.4. On the third attempt, I checked for updates again, and finally, it redirected me to the browser where I could download and run the correct installer for the new version.

I checked the forum and didn't see anyone else with this specific question.

Hi, do you mean a popup like below with the “ Update ” title and “OpenJDK Platform binary” process name?

Or you see something else?

Hi I want to say it said something about a phone or library but unfortunately I did not grab a screenshot.

Thanks for the updates. The IDE should only show the "Update" popup at that time and should not trigger any phone- or library-related processes or popups.
Unfortunately, we haven’t received any other reports of this issue.
If you encounter this problem again, please take a screenshot or screencast and share it for further investigation.
I’ll also keep track of any similar cases.
