How to remove the "Unlock ultimate" button displayed in the top-right corner
已回答

I think the space in the top-right corner is extremely valuable—it's usually reserved for build, debug, and similar functions—but now there's such a large button displaying this advertisement. Could it be moved elsewhere or allow users to hide it via settings?

We do want our users to have an easy way to try features provided by the subscription, so we designed a single entry point to learn about them and try.
The trial is completely free and anonymous, no commitments there. After the trial, widget becomes gray still serving as an entry point to learn about subscriptions and manage them.
We made sure it does not interfere with the actual coding experience.
I agree with the OP, this use of screen real estate is distracting and I wish I could hide it.
I understand that the non-licensed IntelliJ exists to sell the licensed version, but I doubt that this placement will affect the number of users who are aware of the licensed version and will try to use the trial version. For those who never plan to license the software, the constant reminder does nothing but annoy them.
So it's up to JetBrains to weigh the annoyance of non-paying users vs the number of subscriptions they will get by this new placement. Maybe once it's been out for a while, this can be revisited by looking at the change in conversion rate to see how much effect this change is having.
I couldn't install this software because some features require a better version.

i resorted to switching back to the classic ui. doesn't have that oversized button and is generally better designed with important information not hidden and less wasted space
I think it would be better not to frame this as “not interfering with the coding experience.”
As the original poster pointed out, the top-right area is a highly valuable part of the UI, traditionally reserved for core actions like build and debug. Placing a large promotional element there inevitably affects the coding experience.
It might be a more honest and constructive response to acknowledge that this is an advertisement, rather than suggesting that it has no impact. Being transparent about that trade-off would likely resonate better with users.
I fully agree that there should be a way to remove this button. I have an ultimate subscription, but sometimes I use 2 computers. I just want something like the ‘community edition’ for the one I'm not actively working on. I also agree with the previous post that they should at least be honest about it. It _is_ interfering, and it is annoyingly pushy.
It is recommended to keep the Community Edition and Ultimate separate; this button is indeed quite annoying.
This button is a MAJOR pain and can you just let your marketing team that it's one of the worst call to action possible ? Seriously, do you thing that having a *HUGE* button stealing a large part of the UI where I need my tools that will make think “OH WHAT A GOOD IDEA I WILL CLICK ON THAT?”
Please, I know I don't want to click on it. I also know where to try or buy ultimate. This is immensely interfering with my coding experience to the point I now spend a huge time trying to find a way to make it go away. To the point where right now, I'm testing VSCode again.
EDIT: opened that issue: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-384401/Remove-the-unlock-ultimate-button-in-main-menu-bar
Kindly, get fucked. I have paid for a personal IntelliJ license for years, yet you are putting an undismissable advertisement to upgrade in the menu bar of a professional product I AM ALREADY PAYING FOR. The targeting is for “enterprise”, yet I have a personal license.
Hello Chris,
I’m sorry for the frustration this has caused. I understand how annoying it is to see an upgrade prompt in a product you’re already paying for.
The banner you’re referring to is related to an ongoing issue that we’re tracking here:

Our team is aware that the targeting and dismissibility behavior isn’t ideal, especially for users with personal licenses, and the feedback has been shared with the responsible team.
