Cannot start a trial
已回答
I cannot start the new IntelliJ IDEA trial version. I heard that you can now start a trial version with every new major version. Since I haven't used IJ for a while, I should be able to start the trial, but in reality, I cannot.
I don't really remember if I used the 2026.1 EAP or not, but if I have used it, does that mean I can't start the trial version?

The new IntelliJ IDEA licensing does offer a 30-day free trial with each major version, so you are right about that. However, the trial is only available in the **stable release**, not in EAP (Early Access Program) builds. EAP builds are always free to use without a license, so the trial option is intentionally not shown there.
Could you let me know which version you are running? You can check this in **Help | About**. If you see "EAP" in the version string, that explains why the trial is not available.
If you are already on the stable 2026.1 release and the trial still does not start, please let us know and we will investigate further. In that case, it would also help to collect the IDE log via **Help | Collect Logs and Diagnostic Data**.
As for your question about the EAP: using the EAP should not consume your trial entitlement for the stable release, so you should still be eligible for the trial once you install the stable version.
It is stable version.

When I opened the project, it seemed like I could start the trial. However, the trial button still doesn't appear on the subscription management screen. I'm not sure if this is intentional or a bug, but it certainly isn't good for the user experience.
When I performed a clean install of Windows, the EAP had already ended and the stable version had been released. It hadn't even been a week.
I have already started the trial version, so I cannot test it.
It says just “Trial”
Thanks for confirming. It is behaving as expected then.
