Could you please clarify your question with some screenshot etc.
Right now I'm not sure what you are asking:
"Main Menu | View | Active Editor | Use Soft Wraps" -- to switch soft wraps on/off for current file.
"Settings/Preferences | Editor | General --> Soft Wraps" section -- allows to enable or disable default soft wraps status for all files as well as control some indent -- I guess you are after this
I think what Adezoysa means is shown in following example:
Without softwrap the lines are long and dont fit on the screen but the code looks somewhat good.
with softwrap the same paragraph turns into this abnormality. I dont know if it is just me but I am having major troubles reading this. Having the softwrap move text to the correct indentation level instead of to the far left everything would be fine
>Having the softwrap move text to the correct indentation level instead of to the far left everything would be fine
Check your soft wrap settings as per my original image. Here is the one for current 2020.1 version:
As you may see it woks just fine here:
If it still does not work for you -- please share the file where I can check my settings (do not copy paste text here, share the actual file). At very least I will be able to see how it works here.

This is exactly what I meant. Thanks for the lightning fast response to a 2year old threat and sorry for not looking properly myself :-)
