Menu animation in Intellij IU 2018.1

After upgrading to 2018.1 all menus open with an animation from the middle outwards.
I have looked in the preferences but the only settings for animation i could find was in appearance and it regarded window animation. That settings it off.
How do i turn off these animations?

Answering my own question:
Intellij started taking the settings from the operating system (linux mint) starting with this version.
The reason i didn't notice it was because the animations in intellij were different than the ones in the rest of the UI
Turning off menu animations at the OS level turned them off in intellij as well

Looks like PyCharm is using the "dialog box" effects for dropdowns, which I believe IS a bug.
