Excessive launch time

From the time I click the icon on the dock until RubyMine 'select project" box appears is about 1 minute and 4 seconds. Shutdown time is also excessive.

Hello,
could you please specify RubyMine's version. Does it happen when you try to open a certain project or any of them? Is there high CPU/memory usage in that moment?
The version of RubyMine is 2018.2.1
It doesn't use a lot of cpu except right before shutdown. It takes very long to either start or close. Sometimes the activity monitior just says "application not responding". If I try to start either RubyMine or DataGrip from JetBrains toolbox it says creating process failed.
It worked perfectly until after a version update to RubyMine. I love the product and would use it even with the horrible performance on launch and closure but it seems there should be a way to fix this.
I am using RVM to manage the Ruby version. If I go to the SDK setting in RubyMine preferences and try to change the Ruby version it totally maxes out the cpu and becomes unresponsive for a long time.
