Bright white scrollbars in 2020.1 EAP high contrast mode

Using Windows 10, latest 2020.1 EAP, I noticed that the scrollbars in the editor have become incredibly bright white which I am finding really distracting.  This is both vertical and horizontal.  So just above the breadcrumb trail at the bottom of the editor is this huge white strip.

Is this intentional?  It looks really wrong to me.  If it is on purpose, is there any way I can restore it to the previous look?  I have very high light sensitivity, and although I need high contrast text, large areas of white background make my life very difficult.

Here's a screenshot:

I've not used WebStorm much on my Win10 PC so it's possible that this has changed earlier than 2020.  It's definitely not like this in PyCharm 2019.3.3 however.

I can understand why it might have changed.  TBH I can barely see the scrollbars in PyCharm - however I still find them usable enough, and they don't get in the way or distract.

The colors are the same as in PyCharm 2019.3.3, nothing has changed:

and yes, it's intentional - users were asking for contrast scrollbars:(

There is unfortunately no way to change scrollbar colors on Windows, please vote for https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-222263 to be notified on any progress with feature.

For now, I can only suggest looking at custom themes available in the plugin repository; you can also try creating a custom theme plugin.

It's definitely not the same in PyCharm 2019.3.3.  Here's the same scratch file in my PyCharm:

I did see an option for "contrast scrollbar" in the settings but it didn't seem to do anything.  (This was in WebStorm - I'm not touching PyCharm in case I can't revert it back)

The problem with custom themes, is that although it's great that the option exists these days, it has been implemented in the most convoluted way.  Because I have very specific requirements, custom themes are usually a matter of pros and cons, and so I end up having to install a whole load of plugins I don't want to trial and error them.  Or I can create my own, but it's not a 30 second thing like it would be in, say, Visual Studio Code.  I'd also then be in the territory where I'd have to be constantly updating it all the time as new versions come out..

I understand that it's impossible to please everyone, and I understand why it was changed, but personally I think it's horrible and it's the kind of thing that would stop me upgrading.  (I know it sounds petty, but if you have a visual impairment then little things like this mean a lot)
