Is there a way to automatically set a newly created data source as Global?

Hi experts,

Is there a way to automatically set a newly created data source as Global? This is really PIA as I forgot to do so every time, lose it in a new project and have to re-create it. If there is an option to set it automatically as global, it would be really really nice.
