IntelliJ doesn't really update

I tried to update to the latest version (2020.1) via settings->system settings-> updates. It seemed like everything was fine but when the IDE restarted I was still on the 2019.2.3 version. I have no clue as to what is wrong and I get no warnings/errors. Another weird thing is that now the Rainbow brackets plugin doesn't work ("is not supported on the current version"), although it seems like I have remained on the exact same version.

Looks like this is a known issue: IDEA-226297. Feel free to vote on this issue and attach a compressed log folder
