IntellIJ IDEA simply won't run--not in task manager either
Hello,
I recently bought a new laptop. First thing I did was install amazon coretto 11, and now I've installed IntellIJ as I love that IDE. However, when I try to run IntellIJ, it simply doesn't start: No load popup, no "idea" in task manager, whatsoever. When I try the 32-bit .exe file, it loads up immediately. This was in 2020.3 -- I tried 2020.2.4; doesn't work either
On StackOverflow the solution for other people was to delete the vmoptions file in the config folder--I have no such folder anywhere hidden on my laptop, visible nor hidden, and deleting the vmconfig file in the bin folder does nothing to change the issue. Changing the Xms to 256 and Xmx to 512 didn't change anything either. Same with 1024 and 2048--Extreme measures perhaps.
It runs fine on my "regular" Windows desktop PC.
I'm running Windows 10 (up to date), on a 10th gen core i5 with plenty of ram (8gb).
Does anyone else have this problem? How did you fix it? I really don't want to use another IDE...

Thank you for checking out this topic, but I fixed it: You need to have the VC 2015-2019 redistributables installed.
I bought a laptop recently, which runs on Windows 10 and has 4GB RAM. I installed Intellij IDEA on it but the IDE won't run. It keeps bringing out a pop-up showing that the IDE isn't meant for my laptop version. What do I do now???
