unable to add browser Braver or Vivaldi to WebStorm 2026.2.3 on mac os 15.7.16
I'm trying desesperatly to add a browser to run configuration to a projet (web pages html), I tried different things. Google Chrome is not installed, I tried with Brave, with Vivaldi, each time I add one of this browser, it is not saved in the configuration and web storm gives me the same error “unable to find application named Google Chrome”. I tried to edit the Chrome with the path of Brave / Vivaldi, i tried to delete it, i even tried to set Brave / Vivaldi as the default browser, the lien Google Chrome comes back, and my line with Brave / Vivaldi is removed.
With a previous version (2024) it worked.
Thanks in advance for any ideas, or maybe it's a bug.

Could you please share a screenshot of the Settings | Tools | Web Browsers and Preview settings and also describe how you run the browser? Do you use the popup menu or the run configuration button?

I tried to do exactly as you settings (reload page option). Each time that I add the Vivaldi Browser, it seems that the configuration is not saved, it's like the settings weren't saved at all and I still get the message browser error, and when I click on “fix”, the vivaldi browser has gone from the list. Also I just noticed that I don't have the “apply” button (see my screenshots below)
I use the “run” button

Also, please try launching the browser from the IDE’s terminal using:
'open -a /Applications/Vivaldi.app'

Firstaval from the command line the app Vivalid is starting successfully.
I have to say I have an improvement. I realized reading once again you message that I entered the vivaldi configuration only in the “fix” window.
So I tried accessing the browser parameters from the settings, and from there I could see the “apply” button. Doing the browser configuration from the settings was indeed successful. Now when I click run, the page is launched in Vivalid (YEAH !!), but now I have ‘Not found’
But maybe it's another problem ?
Anyway I don't know why the browser configuration couldn't be saved from the window “fix the configuration”.
I could give you the idea.log but even for today the message is too long.

Just a come-back to say that I finally made it work ! Don't know why but when I added the Vivaldi browser in the settings / web browser panel I wrote ‘Brave’ instead of ‘Vivaldi’ in the name column. (confused by the differents things I tried I think).
When restarting Webstorm, this time it works.
SO the solution is here : to change / add the browser, the solution is to go through the settings / browser. It doesn't work at all when doing it from the little window “fix browser configuration”, because from there saving the configuration is not working, and there is no “apply” button.
