Intellij IDEA seems to have auto-updated and in the process wiped all the local history for my project

Hi

Just now I fired up intellij (having thought it was already running - maybe it closed itself?) and noticed it was doing some migration of plug-ins which I thought was odd.

Then it proceeded to do that thing rebuilding a project and indexes and stuff that reads about 1m files and takes a very long time.

Whilst it was doing that I couldn't do much (most operations not being available whilst this stuff is going on) but thought I'd see if local history could be checked; well it can but there isn't any there.  I've checked another module in the project and that's had all its local history wiped as well.  So I'm thinking the whole of my local history has been nuked.

Checking the version I see I have the build from Nov 27th; I was off yesterday and had used it earlier today, but it looks like it decided to auto-update itself just now and in the process wiped all the local history of my project.  Is this expected behaviour when intellij auto-updates?

Thanks.

Hi JJ,

I'm afraid it is. Local history is currently wiped on each IDE update. The issue of it being an issue is discussed here. Feel free to chime in and upvote it.

I linked this post to the ticket too for devs' reference.

Hi Arina

OK that's fine; I thought it might be.

Thanks for confirming.
