Basic Editor functionality broken - Blank line rendering issues on Latest version of Idea (Build #IU-221.5080.210, built on April 11, 2022)

I have made absolutely no changes, besides upgrading to the latest version.. everything was perfectly fine before

After upgrading, basic editor functionality seems broken
^single blank line is getting rendered as 2 blank lines.
Line numbers on the left make it clear.

pls don't tell me this is a feature (If Intellij is shipping these kinds of features, better ship them turn off by default)

EDIT, I tried removing the blank line
the rendering is still wonky
