Solved after downloading and installing the latest plugin 3.1 (python-132.zip). This new version was not showed in the Plugin Repository.

Wouldn't it be better to make some kind of a backup before re-initializing these non-readable files? IntelliJ could write them to a dated directory, so it would be easier to correct them. It seems ...

No reason to backup empty files, only when they are corrupted and not readable for the program.

But, was it truncated after being read by IntelliJ and considered to be non-readable (because of illegal null characters or whatever) or was it truncated by some other cause, say, a crash.
