I don't have either of these issues in my Mac OSX - Maverick with Rubymine 6.  Did you check your Settings > Editor > Editor Tabs settings?

Sounds like you might have another MyLogFile class defined somewhere in your project.  If you right click on of the 'new' method calls and select Go to > Declaration, is it a different method than ...

Same issue here, ever since upgrading to RubyMine 6.3.  Added my vote to the issue.
