IntelliJ IDEA 2016.3.1 does not finish launching

I just installed the latest version of the IDE and now I can't even use it. The progress bar indicating it is being loaded never completes and the application does not start up.

I deleted the 2016.3 folder and when launching the IDE again I got an error about the Materialize UI plugin.
Make sure to delete the plugins folder, there will be no error if it's removed.
