Cannot import anything in intellij

Please provide the exact steps to reproduce this problem. Make sure it's not some third-party plug-in (disable them per http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/webhelp/enabling-and-disabling-plugins.html).

Reproduction steps:

Open intellij and have a project automatically load into the intellij.

File>New>Project from existing sources>Select existing project>Get information about not being able to import from "path"

> Select existing project

What exactly do you select, file or directory?

I select a file more specifically a .java file

This feature works for directories only.
